Body composition analysis is way more than just knowing your body mass index (BMI). If you’re ready to seriously step into a transformative journey, a body composition analysis is the foundation for achieving all your wellness goals.
Body composition analysis is essential to completely understanding your body. Our analysis looks at four components: fat, lean body mass, minerals, and body water. By understanding where your fat, muscle, and body levels are, we can then guide you toward meeting your goals.
How Body Composition Analysis Works
We can complete a body composition analysis in a few different ways. One of the most accurate methods is a skinfold assessment, where we measure the skinfold thickness in areas where fat usually accumulates. Some common examples include the arm, abdomen, and thigh.
Once we have the measurements, we can accurately calculate your body fat within a +3% margin of error. This is not to be confused with BMI, which is actually a measure of weight to height, and it is not an accurate tool for measuring body fatness or assessing health.
Other methods for body composition analysis include hydrostatic weighing, also known as underwater weighing, and Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA). DEXA sends X-rays throughout your body and can measure different amounts of energy, as well as body fat and muscle mass.
We walk through the different body composition tests available, and based on your goals and preferences, we’ll recommend the best and most accurate analysis available.
